Josef Noll

Founder

Josef Noll is Secretary General at the Basic Internet Foundation and professor at the University of Oslo. He envisions a world with free access to information for all. He is specialist for Wireless Networks and Security. He is project leader of the "Digital Inclusion" (DigI) and "Security in IoT" (IoTSec.no) projects, and was involved in several international projects, including nSHIELD for measurable security in IoT systems, Citi-Sense-MOB for mobile air quality measurements, GravidPluss for mobile diabetes advise, and Ka-band propagation for polar regions.  Previously he was Group leader and Senior Advisor at Telenor Research, where his group developed 3G/UMTS, and staff member at the European Space Agency (ESA) in the Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC).

Wisam Ahmed Mansour

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Wisam A. Mansour is Chief Operating Officer at the Basic Internet Foundation. She hold a master degree from the University of Oslo, Universitetet i Oslo, in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, 2018. For her master thesis, she did an in deep study on facilitating women entrepreneurship in the Global South. Her field of research focusing on entrepreneurship in developing economies with special focus on women entrepreneurship empowering. She is working on developing business courses and entrepreneurial platform for developing countries (EntrepNet).

Sudhir Dixit

Co-Founder

Sudhir Dixit is a Senior Fellow and Evangelist at the Basic Internet Foundation in Oslo, Norway, and heads its US operations. He is also associated with the Academy of Finland Flagship Programme called 6G Flagship. He was the CEO and Co-Founder of a start-up, Skydoot, Inc., and previously Distinguished Chief Technologist and CTO of the Communications and Media Services for Americas at HP Enterprise Services in Palo Alto, CA, and the Director of Hewlett-Packard Labs India. Before that, he was with BlackBerry, Nokia, NSN and Verizon Communications. Dixit has 21 patents granted and has published extensively, including eight books. He has been a technical editor of IEEE Communications Magazine, and is in the editor boards of IEEE. In 2018, he was appointed a Distinguished Lecturer by the IEEE Communications Society. A Life Fellow of the IEEE, Fellow of IET and IETE, Dixit holds a Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, and an M.B.A. from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, Florida.

Danica Radovanovic

Digital Inclusion Advisor and International Liaison

Dr. Danica Radovanovic is a digital media specialist and senior researcher at the Basic Internet Foundation in Oslo, Norway. She is a PhD Chevening Scholar, Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, Fulbright Scholar at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a doctorate graduate from the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Novi Sad. She worked as information management and web specialist for the UnitedNations of the FAO on the EthicsWeb FP7 project, was a contributor for the Library of Congress’ (LoC) in DC, for international web portals project, European division, and collaborated with Wikimedia, Global Voices, Scientific American, Index on Censorship, Internet Society, etc. Danica is the author of numerous academic publications, articles in the scientific popular magazines, and participant in many workshops, conferences, and programs related to digital media and digital inclusion. Her work focuses on internet technologies, digital media, digital divide and literacy,the inequalities in the access and use of the internet, and internet governance. Brenda Jimris-Rekve

Partnership and Community Engagement Advisor

Brenda Jimris-Rekve is a Partnership and Community Engagement Advisor at Basic Internet Foundation in Oslo Norway. She has a Master Degree in International Relations from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), where she was also a Teaching Assistant. Her Master Thesis that focused on the Horn of Africa’s terrorism impact on the Kenyan media freedom was awarded the Best Master Thesis in 2016 at NMBU. She has worked as a Research Assistant at the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR) and as a Communication Intern at the Norwegian African Business Association (NABA). As a Communication Advisor at CleanTech Innovation, Brenda was tasked with project development, research and development and pre-feasibility studies for renewable energy and smart city projects in Kenya and Ghana. Additionally, she has worked with Impact Investment for renewable energy projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, for the impact fund manager, Empower New Energy in Oslo.

Iñaki Garitano

Information Specialist and CTO

Iñaki Garitano is a Professor Titular in Electronics and Computer Engineering department and Data Analysis and Cybersecurity group of Mondragon Unibertsitatea, Mondragon University. He holds a PhD titled Behavioral Modeling for Anomaly Detection in Industrial Control Systems, and MSc in Telecommunication Engineering, both from Mondragon Unibertsitatea. Before joining Mondragon Unibertsitatea in 2015, he worked in Universitetssenteret på Kjeller (UNIK) as postdoctoral researcher. In addition, he is the CTO of the Basic Internet Foundation. His interests include Data Science, Security, Privacy, Industrial Automation and Control Systems and Information and Communication Networks including Internet of Things. He currently participates in several European, national and regional level public funding projects.
